Story
As many of you know I have been a supporter and fundraiser for Naomi House and Jacksplace for 18 years and a Trustee for 9. Over that time I have done multiple running events. Some big some small. All to raise money for this amazing charity. This next one though is by far the biggest!
On Aug 17th, at the age of 60, I start my attempt to run 60 marathons in 60 consecutive days. A total of 1572 miles/2515 km.
Not only is my challenge ambitious, but the money I am trying to raise is also in a different league to all I have done before. The target is £600,000. I may or may not achieve this, but whatever I achieve, will be valuable to help the Naomi House team deliver the vital services to the children and families they serve. However, I am also realistic and have broken this down in to milestones.
The milestones are focussed on the teams that deliver the care that matters so profoundly to all concerned. Each has a vital role in the hospice and each component makes the journey for the family personal, specific and entirely focussed on their needs whilst using this incredible service
- £120,000 - Pays the salaries for a year of Family Support Team
- £143,000 - Pays the salaries for a year of the Play Team
- £180,000 - Pays a year for all catering costs - salaries and food
- £194,000 - Pays the salaries for 6 full time carers
- £328,000 - Pays for the salaries of 3 Band 5 and 3 Band 7 nurses
- £370,000 - Pays for the salaries of 6 x Band 5 nurses
If I can hit that £600,000 number then I know I can fund several of these.
I am putting my body on the line but I know at this very difficult economical time, digging deep and making a donation can and will be much harder for many. Just do what you can.
PLEASE feel free to share this to anyone and everyone you know.
